The Observatory is playing a leadership role in expanding the Motus network in the Western Great Lakes region.
We are working with environmental education organizations to integrate the Motus Wildlife Tracking System into ESTEM (Environment, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning. Students will learn cutting-edge technologies and gain real-life experience with scientific research, while expanding the Motus network.
We also are working with diverse partners to facilitate the installation of Motus receivers in Southern Wisconsin. In the summer of 2020, Madison Audubon Society and the Milwaukee County Zoo both installed receivers, adding to the four currently in operation
